Temporary Closure of LES and UES

Beginning December 17, 2012 until January 2, 2013, the Law Library’s Upper East Side (UES) and Lower East Side (LES) will be closed due to electrical upgrades necessary for Beinecke Library.  During this time, you will not be able to personally retrieve books from the UES or LES.  Therefore, please plan ahead and retrieve any books you may need from the UES and LES prior to Dec. 17.

A librarian will access the area twice daily to retrieve books for our patrons as needed.  If you would like a book in our collection from this area during this time, you simply need to “Request it” in MORRIS.  When the item has been retrieved, you will receive an email that the item is available for pick-up at the Law Library’s Circulation Desk on L3.

The Law Library is open during the December holidays as follows:

  • Through Dec. 20: 8:00am – 12am (regular hours)
  • Dec. 21: 8:00am – 10:00pm
  • Dec. 22 – 25: Closed
  • Dec. 26 – 30: 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • Dec. 31 – Jan. 1: Closed
  • Jan. 2: 8:00am – 12:00am (regular hours)

Retrieval times from Dec. 26-28 are 9:30am and 12:15pm.

Retrieval times from Dec. 17 – 21 are 10:30am and 6:00pm.

If you have a carrel on the UES, you should have received an individual email from Law Library Administration advising you of the restricted access and offering you alternative work space as you will not be able to access your office or carrel during this time.  Law Journals who store material or conduct source cites on the UES or LES will not have access to these areas.  Again, we have attempted to contact all the affected journals’ editors to advise of this disruption, and we are more than happy to find you alternative work space in the library if you will be working during this time.
