Research Seminars for LLM and JSD Students

This research program offers students an opportunity to expand their knowledge of legal research and legal processes, continue their studies in international law, and engage in comparative legal research. The Law Library also sponsors the popular Movie Night with LLM students.

Library Orientation

Details: Part of orientation week.  Learn the basics of navigating the library catalog, how to find books and articles, how to set up your VPN and use it at home, borrowing books from other libraries, searching other library catalogs, etc.

Academic Integrity Workshop

Details: Students will learn the ethics of proper attribution as well as mechanics of citation using the Bluebook.

Introduction to LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law

Intermediate level training LexisNexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law

Details: Learn techniques for more efficient database searching, including: boolean searching, field searching and identifying the best database for your research.  We will also discuss research management in Lexis and Westlaw.

Research Tools and Management Workshop

Details: Students will learn how to submit a paper for publication using an automated service.  In addition, students will learn how to manage and track their research using tools such as RSS feeds, Zotero, Refworks, automated alerts, etc.  (Please note that visiting researchers are not eligible for Yale ExpressO accounts).  There is also a helpful article on this topic here.
