Critical Legal AI Literacies: Sarah Lamdan on “Data Cartels: The Companies that Control Legal AI”
The Lillian Goldman Law Library, through the generous support of the Oscar M. Ruebhausen Fund at Yale Law School, is pleased to present Critical Legal AI Literacies. This speaker series seeks to expose the Yale Law community and the legal field to alternative perspectives on AI and the law that are grounded in empirical evidence and critical considerations about the development, use, and impact of generative AI.
The third speaker in this series was Sarah Lamdan, a lawyer, librarian, legal scholar, and author of Data Cartels: The Companies That Control and Monopolize Our Information. Speaking to the Yale Law community on September 30, 2025, Professor Lamdan discussed the privacy concerns posed by the role data cartels are playing in the development of legal AI.
