Very Short Introductions Series

Dear Students,

Sometimes it can be challenging to know how to delve into a new topic or research interest. Even sophisticated researchers need concise, scholarly gateways into specialized topics like military justice, medical law, and forensic science, just to name a few.

Oxford University Press created their Very Short Introductions series precisely for this dilemma. As Oxford states, “All titles provide intelligent and serious introductions to a huge range of subjects, written by experts in the field who combine facts, analysis, new ideas, and enthusiasm to make challenging topics highly readable.”

The Law Library provides access to law-related Very Short Introductions in ebook format. Additionally, the University Library provides access to over 600 titles in the series branching out beyond law.

The law series includes specialized subjects, as mentioned above, as well as more introductory topics such as the U.S. Constitution and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Many titles are also available in print. To find them in our library catalog, MORRIS, enter “very short introductions” in a title search.
