Resources for Graduating Students (this summer and beyond)

May 15, 2015

Congratulations graduates of Yale Law School Class of 2015! As YLS alumni, you will continue to have access to the Law Library to study or prepare for the bar exam; however your borrowing, scanning, and delivery privileges will end August 31, 2015 (other campus library borrowing privileges end three months after graduation). Your Net ID and password will never expire but your access to certain systems and databases will terminate October 15, 2015. After that date you will only have access to Law Library databases from the terminals in the law library.

Your student access to Westlaw, Lexis, and Bloomberg will end at various times over the summer and fall.

Westlaw: Graduating students may extend their access while studying for the bar by registering for Grad Elite program.  Registered students will retain Westlaw access for 60 hours through November 30, 2015. If you have any questions about this program please contact our Westlaw representative, Holly Rush.

Lexis Advance: Lexis is releasing a new program for recent Law School Graduates on July 1st that will automatically extend Lexis Advance access through December 31, 2015. Please note, 3L graduates have until 11:59 PM CDT on June 30th to redeem their Lexis Rewards points. For questions and assistance, please contact our LexisNexis representative, Meredith Shuman.

Bloomberg: Graduating students will have unlimited and unrestricted Bloomberg access for 6 months following graduation.

Even though you will no longer have access to the Law Library’s databases, as Yale Alumni the law library has secured free access to HeinOnline’s Law Journal Library of more that 1,800 law and law-related periodicals. You will also have access to JSTOR’s extensive collection of online scholarly materials thanks to the Association of Yale Alumni (you can read more about the Hein service here and the JSTOR service here).

The reference librarians are also available to help with your research and reference questions in person, via email, or over the phone at 203-432-1606.

Congratulations and good luck!
