Yale University undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and staff are invited to submit posters for the 2019 Yale Day of Data poster session, to be held on Thursday, December 5. The deadline to submit a poster is November 18.

This poster session is part of the annual Yale Day of Data. This year’s Day of Data theme is Data Privacy. While we encourage researchers to incorporate the theme into their submissions, we welcome research in all disciplines and interpretations of the theme. Each accepted poster will receive two tickets to attend the 2019 Day of Data, which will be held on December 6.

Submissions from all disciplines and with all methodologies are welcome. Submissions will be evaluated on the extent to which they communicate research to a general university audience and emphasize the role of research data in your work.

Why participate?

Quickly communicating your research is hard. Communicating it a general audience outside your specialization is even harder. This event gives you an opportunity to hone those skills. In particular, it’s a great opportunity for graduate students before they head to conferences.

Don’t have a poster ready?

Submissions received by November 18 that are accepted will be printed without any charge to the submitters. However, the acceptance process is competitive.

Is there a prize?

Attendees of the poster session on December 5 will be able to vote for the presenter and poster that best emphasize communication to a general audience and the role of research data in their work. A prize will be awarded to the winning presenter.

How do you submit?

The Yale Day of Data is a full-day event fostering cross-discipline engagement and communication on research data in the Yale University community. This year’s theme is Data Privacy, which emphasizes the challenges of balancing abundant information and openness in research with concerns about privacy and surveillance. The 2019 Yale Day of Data is Friday, December 6 and is preceded by a poster session on Thursday, December 5.

The 2019 Day of Data is sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Yale University Library, the Lillian Goldman Law Library, the Institution for Social and Policy Studies, and the Yale Center for Research Computing.
