“You Can’t Be What You Can’t See”

The current exhibit on display in the main Reading Room of the Lillian Goldman Law Library (Level 3) entitled “You Can’t Be What You Can’t See” highlights a compilation of Hollywood films featuring Black actors in the roles of various professionals, including doctors, astronauts, fashion designers, and lawyers.

The exhibit, curated by Lisa Goodman, Shana Jackson, and Jordan Jefferson, was created to shine a light on the dearth of representation of black actors in the roles of professionals in the areas of STEM, law, medicine, and more. African Americans are underrepresented in the actual professions as well. Data showcased within the exhibit supports this claim.

The exhibit is on display through March 31, 2019.
